What is West Coast Swing

What It Looks Like

West Coast Swing (WCS)

West Coast Swing is an elegant form of swing dancing that evolved from Lindy Hop. It first appeared in the blues bars of Texas, and has grown to work with a wide variety of music, including R&B, contemporary pop and jazz, hip hop, motown, and gospel. WCS emphasizes connection and musical interpretation. Although elements of other swing dances are still visible in WCS, you will find WCS has a smooth, sophisticated mood all its own. WCS is danced by a nationwide community of thousands who gather around the country for weekends of social dancing and performance.
